NANO bicycles® - FAQ's 


What do I need to rent a bike?

ID or passport and a valid credit card (Visa or Mastercard only). Amex not accepted. Maestro, Electron, pre-paid or debit cards are not valid as guarantee so a security deposit will be blocked on them. 

Please notice that a valid credit card (Visa/Mastercard) is always required to rent a bike, even with a pre-paid reservation. In addition, a security deposit will be blocked on that card for security when renting road bike models.


Can I rent a bike if I do not have a credit card?

Yes, you can. A security deposit will be required (the quantity may vary according to the type of bicycle). Please, consider that it is not possible to book in advance with no credit card.


How do I make a reservation?

In order to make a reservation, please click here. You can choose the rental period and see the stock available (please notice that it is not allowed to make reservations for 1-day rental). A 20% of the booking total will be charged in order to secure the booking (this deposit is non-refundable in case of cancellation). To pick up the bike you need to bring your Id/Passport and a valid credit card Visa/Mastercard.

Can I cancel my booking? 

It is possible to cancel your booking according to our cancellation policies by contacting us by email. Please notice that there is a penalty fee of 20% of the booking cost so please make sure you choose the right dates and bikes. The deposit paid when booking online will not be refunded in case of cancellation. You will find all the technical specifications of the bikes in the bicycle description as well as geometry on every size so you can compare it with your own bike at home. Please notice that if you do not show up on the pick up date, the booking will be kept only during that day and automatically cancel afterwards.

Can I make a change in a confirmed reservation?

Despite our booking system warns you that it is not possible to make any changes in a confirmed reservation, we understand that it may be needed, that's why we offer the 'Reschedule my booking' option (+20€) that allows you to move your rental dates forward up to 24h before the rental starts. If you need to add/remove accessories such as pedals or helmets, you can do it either by email or on collection with no extra charge.


How long in advanced can I make a reservation?

You are more than welcome to make a reservation as soon as you know your travel dates so you ensure availability although please consider that, as we change models every year, the reserved model could be replaced for a new one with similar specifications. In any case, we will always update your booking to a model with the same specifications or better ones than the previosly reserved bike.

If I have a booking on my name, can another person collect the bike on my behalf?

Yes, it is possible if you let us know in advance by email. The person collecting the bike must bring his/her ID/Passport and credit card Vïsa/Mastercard. He/she will be responsible for the rental equipment and he/she will make the payment of the due amount on collection.

What size should I choose?

In the link 'Specs & Geometry' on the model you are interested in, you will find the geometry that you can compare with your own bike at home.

Do I need to book a bicycle in advance or can I just come to the shop?

Is the rental for 1 day counted 24 hours?

1 day rental is counted 24h only in the city bikes. In the rest of models (fitness, trekking, ebikes and racing bikes) the day counts from the morning (shop opening time) until the afternoon (shop closing time).

Do you offer rentals of less than 1 day?

No, unfortunately not. Our minimum rental is 1 day. In any case, we offer competitive daily prices on every model advertised.

Do you offer transport service?

No, we do not offer bicycle transport service so it is only possible to collect and return the bikes at our shops in Palma center.

Can I rent a bike and pick it up / return it outside your opening times?

No, it is only possible to collect and return the bikes when the shop is open.

Can I rent a bike for any sort of amateur or professional competition?

Yes, it is possible to use the rental bikes for races such as the Mallorca312 although in those cases, the minimum rental required would be 3 days.

Do you offer insurance for the bikes?

No, we do not offer theft or damage insurance in any of our bikes. We recommend you to check either with your travel insurance or credit card insurance to learn more about their conditions.

Do you offer gravel bikes?
Yes, we do rent gravel bikes such as the Specialized Diverge. More info here. Please notice the Specialized Roubaix is not a gravel bike.


Is there any other charges that I should consider?

In very exceptional cases (as for example, dirty bikes), we can charge 20€ when the bike is returned full of mud, dust or rusty (which is not common!).

When loosing the key of the lock provided with the bike (in models where it is included), there is a charge of 10€ for the keycut.

Also, when having a flat tire and/or using the inner tube provided in the repair kit, there is a charge of 6€ per tube (when the client replaces the repair kit's tube for a new one of his own, there will not be any extras).

Is it possible to transport the bike in the bus/train/taxi?

It is possible to transport the bikes either in taxi (please order a big taxi accordingly) or train (from Palma to Sa Pobla, Inca or Manacor) although unfortunately it is not possible to transport bikes neither in the train of Soller nor buses.


Does the rental bikes include lock?

Yes! We include high security locks for free in urban models, fitness and hybrids. In road bikes, we strongly recommend not to leave the bicycles unattended and not to lock it and be away from it. Locks are not provided and they are not allowed to be used on this bikes for security reasons and in order to avoid carbon frame damages.

What equipment is provided with the bikes?

We provide a puncture repair kit (air pump, two tyre levers and spare inner tube) and bottle cage in all the sporty models. A fee of 6€ will be charged if using the spare inner tube provided. Speedometer not provided. In all road bikes models we also provide a 4mm allen key for the saddle adjustment and a multitool in the case of disc brakes road bikes. 


Can I rent helmet, pedals or any other accessories? 

Yes! Helmets and pedals (Shimano SPD, Shimano SPD-SL or Look Keo) can be rented from 3€/day. If you bring your own pedals our staff will install them on the bike(s) for you.

Is it possible to change the crankset, handlebar, cassette or any other component on the bikes?

No, unfortunately it is not possible to change the gear ratio or any of the components of the bikes such as handlebar although we offer a very wide variety of models and sizes so you can choose the most suitable for you!


Is it easy to start cycling from the center of Palma?

Yes! We are located 1 min away from the main cycle track along the cost and all of the bicycle paths are connected. Palma is also a safe small city placed next to flat areas and famous hills of the island of Majorca. In addition, this town is a wonderful place to enjoy after cycling with an incredible legacy of culture and history and full of gastronomy offers and nightlife! Easy routes to technical off-road tracks and even road cycling it is possible to do from the center of Palma.

How can I find some routes for bicycles?

Can I park somewhere nearby your shops?

As our shops are located in the very city center, parking is possible in the city center underground parkings: 'Parc de la Mar' (just in front of the Cathedral and just 2 min away from us), the one in 'Plaça Major' or the one in 'Passeig de Mallorca'. Please consider that we are located in a the very city center on a residencial area so access by car is not allowed and only possible with previous authorization that you can request calling to 0034971225530.


Is it possible to buy accessories or spare parts at NANO bicycles® shops?

Yes! Appart from the equipment that we include when renting a bicycle with us, we have a good stock of spare parts and accessories including brands such as Continental, Shimano, Look, Sram, Zefal, Garmin, Michelin, Schwalbe, Cateye, Sigma, Var, Tacx, Selle Italia, Thule among others).


Do you sell second-hand bicycles after the season?

We normally start selling our second hand bicycles in our Palma bike shops after summer (this may vary). In any case, all our second-hand fleet of bikes that are for sale in our shops in Palma are published here.

Can I store my luggage in your shop(s) during the rental period?

Yes, if you are renting a bike with us, you can store your luggage at our shop(s) for free during the rental period. 

If you prefer not to rent a bike but need a luggage storage in Palma center, please contact our colleagues of Left Luggage Apuntadors (located inside NANO bicycles 2).
