NANO Bicycles® - FAQ's 


What do I need to rent a bike?

ID or passport and a valid credit card (Visa or Mastercard only). Amex not accepted. Maestro, Electron, pre-paid or debit cards are not valid. 

Please notice that a valid credit card (Visa/Mastercard) is always required to rent a bike, even with a pre-paid reservation. In addition, a security deposit may be blocked on that card for security.


Can I rent a bike if I do not have a credit card?

Yes, you can. A security deposit will be required (the quantity may vary according to the type of bicycle). Please, consider that it is not possible to book in advance with no credit card.


How do I make a reservation?

In order to make a reservation, please click here. You can choose the rental period and see the stock available (please notice that it is not allowed to make reservations for 1-day rental). A 20% of the booking total will be charged in order to secure the booking (please notice this deposit is non-refundable). To pick up the bike you need to bring your Id/Passport and a valid credit card Visa/Mastercard.

Can I modify or cancel my booking? 

Yes, you can cancel your booking by contacting us. Please notice that there is a penalty fee of 20% of the booking cost (check cancellation policiehere) so please make sure you choose the right dates and bikes. You will find all the technical specifications of the bikes in the link '+INFO' at the bicycle description as well as geometry on every size so you can compare it with your own bike at home. Unfortunately it is not possible to modify an existing booking.



Do I need to book a bicycle in advance or can I just come to the shop?

We highly recommend to book in advance to ensure availability. In order to make a reservation, click here. For 'city' bicycles or '1-day rentals', please visit the shops as bookings are not accepted.



How long in advanced can I make a reservation?

You are more than welcome to make a reservation as soon as you know your travel dates so you ensure availability although please consider that, as we change models every year, the reserved model could be replaced for a new one with similar specifications. If that is the case, we will inform you as soon as we receive new models details.

If I have a booking on my name, can another person collect the bike on my behalf?

No, unfortunately not. It is only possible to pick up a bicycle if the booking is under your name. Remember that you will need to show your Passport/ID and Visa/Mastercard credit card in order to collect it. Your signature will also be required on collection.

Is the rental for 1 day consider 24 hours?

1 day rental is consider 24h only in the urban models (city, comfort, foot-brake and fitness). In the rest of models (mtb, ebikes and racing bikes) the day means from the morning (shop opening time) until the afternoon (shop closing time).

Can I rent a bike and pick it up / return it outside your opening times?

No, it is only possible to collect and return the bikes when the shop is open.

Do you offer rentals of less than 1 day?

No, unfortunately not. In order to offer you the best service and as we consider everyone needs more time to discover the wonderful city of Palma and the amazing island of Mallorca, our minimum rental is 1 day. In any case, we offer competitive daily prices on every model advertised.

Does the rental bikes include lock?

Yes! We include high security locks for free in urban models, hardtrail mtb and hybrids. In top of the range bikes, we strongly recommend not to leave the bike unattended and not to lock the bike and be away from it so locks will not be provided for security reasons.

What size should I choose?

In the link +INFO on the model you are interested in, you will find the geometry that you can compare with your own bike at home.

What equipment is provided with the bikes?

We provide a puncture repair kit (air pump, two tyre levers and spare inner tube) in all the sporty models. A fee of 5€ will be charged if using the spare inner tube provided. Speedometer not provided.


Can I rent helmet, pedals, shoes or any other accessories? 

Yes! Helmets and pedals can be rented from 2€/day. To check all the accessories we offer, please visit this link.

Is it possible to change the crankset, handlebar, cassette or any other component on the bikes?

No, unfortunately it is not possible to change the gear ratio or any of the component of the bikes although we offer a very wide variety of models and sizes so you can choose the most suitable for you!

Do you offer insurance for the bikes?

No, we do not offer theft or damage insurance in any of our bikes. We recommend you to check either with your travel insurance or credit card insurance to learn more about their conditions.


Is there any other charges that I should consider?

In very exceptional cases (as for example, dirty Mtb's), we can charge 10€ when the bike is returned full of mud, dust or rusty (which is not common!).

When loosing the key of the lock provided with the bike (in models where it is included), there is a charge of 10€ for the keycut.

Also, when having a flat tire and/or using the inner tube provided in the repair kit, there is a charge of 5€ per tube (when the client replaces the repair kit's tube for a new one of his own, there will not be any extras).


Do you have any Mechanical Assistance Service in case of breakdown?

Yes, we do. Please, contact us to learn more about pricing and conditions. This service is only available in the areas where the transport service is offered.


Is it easy to start cycling from the center of Palma?

Yes! We are located 1 min away from the main cycle track along the cost and all of the bicycle paths are connected. Palma is also a safe small city placed next to flat areas and famous hills of the island of Majorca. In addition, this town is a wonderful place to enjoy after cycling with an incredible legacy of culture and history and full of gastronomy offers and nightlife! Easy routes to technical off-road tracks and even road cycling it is possible to do from the center of Palma.

Can I park somewhere nearby your shops?

As our shops are located in the very city center, parking is possible in the underground parking 'Parc de la Mar' just in front of the Cathedral and just 2 min away from us, the one in 'Plaça Major' or the one in 'Passeig de Mallorca'. Please consider that we are in a residencial area so access by car is only possible with previous authorization.

Is it possible to transport the bike in the bus/train/taxi?

It is possible to transport the bikes either in taxi (please order a big taxi accordingly) or train (from Palma to Sa Pobla, Inca or Manacor) although unfortunately it is not possible to transport bikes neither in the train of Soller nor buses.


How can I find some routes for bicycles?

Here you can check some recommendations for cycling routes. In addition, we also sell a professional cycling map (10€) with all the routes for road/mtb bikes all over the island (including different levels of traffic, %, altimetry, etc.).


Can I store my bike at the shop if I rent it for more than one day?

Of course! We offer that service (free of charge) to customers who do not have a place to store the bike safely during the night.
Can I leave my luggage at NANO bicycles® shops?

Yes! We have a left luggage service in Palma free of charge when you rent a bike with us. This left luggage facility is available exclusively for our customers.


Is it possible to buy accessories or spare parts at NANO bicycles® shops?

Yes! Appart from the equipment that we include when renting a bicycle with us, we have a good stock of spare parts and accessories including brands such as Continental, Shimano, Look, Sram, Zefal, Garmin, Michelin, Schwalbe, Cateye, Sigma, Var, Tacx, Multipower, Selle Italia, Thule among others. Please, remember that if the item you are looking for is not in stock, we can always order it for you according to availability (we sell all the famous brands in the market!).


Can I rent a bike and get it delivered to my hotel or holiday apartment?

Yes! We provide an excellent delivery and pick up service. To check the prices of this bike transport service, click here. We recommend to book this service in advance in order to secure availability.


Do you offer children bikes and children accessories?

Yes! We offer children bikes for kids between 1 m and 1,50 m as well as child seats (max. weight of 22 kg) and baby trailers (suitable for 1 or 2 kids, max. height 111cm and max. load including cargo and passengers 45kg). The helmets are provided for free for children up to 16 years old as its use is compulsory for them. We work with top brands in the market as Hamax and Thule.


If I want to start cycling earlier than your shop opening time, can I pick up my racing bike the previous night?

Yes! It is possible according to availability. Please, consider that this service has an extra charge of 5€/bike.


Do you sell second-hand bicycles after the season?

We normally start selling our second hand bicycles in our Palma bike shops after summer (this may vary). In any case, all our second-hand fleet of bikes that are for sale in our shops in Palma are published here.


Do you offer bicycle tours?

No but we offer bicycle rental, bike transport, repairs and bike shop.
